How to install on macOS

1Install steps

  1. Pick Apple Silicon for M1, M2, M3 and newer Macs, or Intel for older Macs.
  2. Open the file you downloaded.
  3. Drag Pear Desktop into the Applications folder.
  4. The first time you open it, hold Control, click the app icon and choose Open, then click Open again. This is only needed once because the app comes from an open-source team and not the App Store.

2If macOS blocks the app

xattr -cr /Applications/Pear\ Desktop.app

If macOS says the app cannot be opened or looks damaged, open the Terminal app, paste the line above and press Return, then open Pear Desktop again. See the macOS notes on GitHub if you need more help.
